Hyperborea was the last album that tangerine dream made on the virgin label after a near ten year association and to be fair lots of success.

Even reflective at times. This is the first cd release of this album. Hyperborea is very much an anomaly in this era of tangerine dream being more based around suggestive mood pieces than simple pop pieces or extensive synth solos. There exists another version identical in almost every way but with a mould sid code on the matrix hub pointing to a post 1993 reissue repress.

Hyperborea 1983 would prove to be the last tangerine dream album released on the virgin records label and the mood throughout is contemplative. Pilots of the purple twilight. The virgin recordings 1980 1983 showcases the next chapter and features newly remastered versions of the albums tangram thief exit white eagle logos hyperborea along with the previously unreleased soundtracks. Tangerine dream follow up their superb in search of hades box set with another virgin era package.

It is perhaps this that makes it somewhat forgotten yet it is this that makes it my favourite album of theirs.
